We all know how good Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen are. However, the Vikings haven’t had a reliable 3rd receiver in a long time. Laquon Treadwell was supposed to be that guy. I don’t think there’s any other way to say it but Treadwell sucks. He has 56 career catches in 3 years as a former first round pick. NOT GREAT.
The Vikings do have a guy they have high hopes for. That man is Chad Beebe. Chad is most known for his father Don who played in the NFL for 9 years. Don’t overlook the son. The Vikings think they may have something.
“Let’s see how we end up,” Kubiak said, via the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “I think we also have to look at the fact that [Beebe] has probably had as good an offseason as any player that I know on our side of the ball. He’s got a chance to be a really good player for us. It gives us good flexibility to be able to bounce around personnel-wise.”
That’s some high praise. Best offseason of any player? Woah. That’s coming from a player that played just 46 snaps on the entire season as an undrafted free agent. Beebe reeled in just 4 passes for 39 total yards in 2018. Now it looks like he is the lead dog for the number 3 wide out spot.
It’s Beebe’s job to lose. Treadwell is really the other only notable name on the depth chart. If Beebe can turn into a reliable weapon for the Vikings, that’s a huge lift for Kirk Cousins. He also has a new shiny toy at tight end too with Irv Smith. The Vikings offense should be better in 2019. The question is whether Minnesota actually has a diamond in the rough with Chad Beebe?
